My Story
I spent my entire life chasing after society’s definition of success and “checking off the boxes” to create the stereotypical life of my dreams. I worked hard to get good grades growing up (I cried when I got my first B+ in the 2nd grade), to get into a great university (with a full-ride), to get an amazing job at a Fortune 50 company and make good income. But when I got there, I couldn’t help but wonder… is this it? I go into work in the morning, come out at night, and… what? This is my entire life? I was working crazy hours, exhausted all the time, harshly criticizing myself, and feeling incredibly unfulfilled. I set up my career and achievements as measure of my self-worth and completely lost sight of who I was. I was terrified of waking up late in life filled with regret of what I let my days become. Match that with the intense life crisis that shortly followed (mortality just hit me in the face one day, what can I say?), and I was off to the races, desperate to find a way to thrive, rather than merely survive.
I did the only thing I could think of and for the first time in my life picked up a “self-help” book. I was hooked, & completely fell in love with personal development.
Through reading many, many, MANY books, studying positive psychology in my free-time, asking God for guidance, giving up 100 times and then getting back on the horse months later, talking to mentors, reflecting, and taking action over the course of three years, I began to make the necessary changes in my life:
I set boundaries around work and began saying no
I committed to devoting time to things that matter to me
I became more patient with my loved ones by taking care of myself first
I began practicing gratitude and enjoying the little things in life
I let go of shame for not having it all figured out, and pressure to always get it right
I started speaking my mind more, and worried less about what others thought
I took action to get me what I wanted, even when it was deeply uncomfortable
I began to craft a life that truly brought me joy and fulfillment
As I went along my journey and started to speak to others about what I was working on, I was shocked to discover so many people around me were struggling with the same things! The only difference between us, was that I was committed to taking action on it (and still am!). And then, I became committed to helping others do the same.
By the time I learned what life-coaching actually was (vs. the self-proclaimed guru image I had in my mind), I knew I needed it in my life: to be coached, and to coach others, in and out of the office. I want to help incredible people lead lives that bring them joy, and help them maximize their potential.
The irony of it all is that if I had known the power of coaching back when I had my quarter life crisis, I would have hired a coach! If I had a time machine, I would go back and be the coach to younger Eduarda, so she could have someone truly on her side for the journey. To help her figure it out, and to add speed & power. Now, as a graduate of Accomplishment Coaching, I’m dedicated to being that person for my clients, and helping others design a life they love, so they can spend less time stressing about it (and maybe not spend 3 years trying to figure it out alone with self-help books), and more time living it.
I already believe in you. My mission is to make you a believer too.
